When it comes to music I firmly believe in 2 things, one is ‘MUSIC HAS NO LANGUAGE‘ & the other is ‘WHEN YOU HEAR GOOD MUSIC, YOU SHARE‘!
In this series, I will be sharing with you all some of my all time favourite songs. I look forward to hear your opinions on these songs.
1. VAAN VARUVAAN
Music- A R RAHMAN
Singer- SHASHAA TIRUPATI
Movie- KAATRU VELIYIDAI
ARR is my favourite music composer. This haunting melody was released on last year’s ‘Valentine’s Day‘ and has still remained my favourite.
Shashaa’s voice elevates this song to a whole new level. The minimal instruments, layering of Shashaa’s voice to create an alluring listen by the genius ARR & the freshness in her voice matches the pristine snow locales where this song was shot.
My favourite part is the ‘KAADHAL VANDHAAL KANIYAAI…‘. Gosh, pure bliss!!! an all season, evergreen melody. You can check out the song here…
Singer- Taylor Swift
This song has remained as one of my all time favourites from the time it was released back in the year 2014. I remember fangirling over this song from the first listen itself & then making sure to send this song to every one of my friends.
I love the intro guitar part, I love the beats, I love the vocals & the chorus, basically I love everything about this song.
This also happens to be my Dad’s first favourite Taylor Swift song.

3. EE SHISHIRAKAALAM
Music- SHAAN RAHMAN
Singers- VINEETH SREENIVASAN, KAVYA AJIT
Movie- JACOBINTE SWARGARAJYAM
Do you remember that early morning drive with your windows down & fresh, cool breeze blowing through your hair? I am sure you could recall that feeling of being at peace with the world. This song does that to me every time I listen to it.
It feels as if happiness is just oozing out from this song. Vineeth’s voice is so soothing here & when he starts to sing the line ‘Pularipoo melle melle, Ithalittu mele mele…’ you would want to get up & dance not caring if anyone’s watching you or not.
Here’s the link for this happy song, you can thank me later
4. ENNODU NEE IRUNDHAAL
Music- A R RAHMAN
Singers- CHINMAYI SRIPAADA, SID SRIRAM
This is that love ballad which you could never get tired of listening to.
And as is the case with every ARR‘s songs, with each listen you would be discovering new things about the song, like an instrument which you wouldn’t have noticed on earlier listens, and now that you did, it adds so much more to the song .
There are 2 versions of this song, I like the female version more, though the male version is also another gem of a song. I still remember that when I had shared these songs with my friend he got so addicted that he kept listening to them the whole night.
Both the singers have done a phenomenal job & Chinmayi especially nails my favourite part in the song ‘UNNMAI KAADHAL YAAR ENDRAAL, UNNAI ENNAI SOLVAENAE…‘ This part especially is….I can’t describe it, listen it here..
5. KUTTANADAN PUNJAYILE – Kerala Boat Song (English remix) by VIDYA VOX
Though I have never been much of a fan of remixes, I make exception for VIDYA VOX.
She’s famous for her mixing of popular English songs with Hindi/ Tamil/ Telugu/ Malayalam/ Punjabi songs.
Here she has blended so beautifully the famous Kerala Boat Song ‘Kuttanadan Punjayile/Punchayile‘ with an English song written by her.
This also happens to be one of my mom’s favourite songs. I am sure you guys would enjoy this as much as we did & still do, here’s the link…
So that rounds up my ‘Playlist‘ for this week, how do you guys feel about it? comment below. Till next week’s playlist I would leave you guys with this quote from Bob Marley ‘One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain’.
